Two pieces,
made to outlast trends.
Cut, stitched, and burnished
by hand in Brunswick.
One small workshop. Four stages, ninety minutes a wallet. No outsourcing, no rushing, no shortcuts to make the numbers work.
Hide selection.
We work with two tanneries — Avellino in Italy for veg-tan, regional Victoria for chrome-free. Each hide is inspected by hand. Marks become character, not waste.
Cut.
Paper patterns laid over the hide. The grain runs along the length of each piece so it wears evenly. Cuts are scored with a head knife, then trimmed.
Saddle stitch.
Two needles, waxed linen thread, six stitches per inch. If a thread breaks, the surrounding stitches hold — machine stitching unravels because every loop depends on the next.
Edge burnish.
Edges bevelled, sanded fine, wet with gum tragacanth, then burnished with a canvas wheel until they take a glassy finish. This step is what separates a hand-made wallet from a factory one.
We don't make leather goods for everyone. We make them for the person who keeps the same wallet for a decade.
